Two young up-and-coming talents, who together form an organ duo. In addition to solo works, Wibren and Gertine will also play works for organ four-hands.
Wibren Jonkers (1999) is active as a concert organist, church musician and music teacher. He studies organ at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Pieter van Dijk and Matthias Havinga. He receives lessons in basso continuo and improvisation from Miklós Spányi. In order to develop broadly as a keyboard player, he takes a minor in harpsichord and clavichord with Menno van Delft and received piano lessons from Jaap Kooi. At the Rotterdam Conservatory (Codarts) Wibren studied church music with Hayo Boerema, Arie Hoek and Hanna Rijken. He took masterclasses with Michel Bouvard, Ben van Oosten, Louis Robilliard and Thomas Trotter, among others. In addition to his musical activities, he studies theology at the Theological University of Apeldoorn. Wibren is cantor of the Protestant Congregation of Zeewolde and is a church organist at the Fonteinkerk in Amersfoort, the chapel of the VUmc Amsterdam and as a vesper organist at the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam.He gives organ and piano lessons, performs as a continuo player and regularly accompanies choirs and soloists.
Wibren has won prizes at various competitions, including first prizes at the Duyschot Organ Competition Amsterdam (2022) and the International Martini Organ Competition Groningen (2024).
Gertine Hoefnagel (1997) received her first organ lessons from Jurriën Plender and Sander van den Houten. She studied organ with Bas de Vroome and Zuzana Ferjenčikova and choral conducting with Wiecher Mandemaker at the Rotterdam Conservatory (Codarts). There she also completed the minor subjects basso continuo, harpsichord and piano. She also studied church music with Hayo Boerema (improvisation), Arie Hoek (cantorate and hymnology) and Hanna Rijken (liturgy). She is currently studying for her master’s degree at the Utrecht Conservatory with Laurens de Man (organ) and Rob Vermeulen (choral conducting). Gertine is cantrix of the Protestant Congregation of Voorschoten and is a church organist at the Ikazia Hospital in Rotterdam. She is also a solfège teacher and rehearsal director of the children’s and youth choir of the Koorschool Delft and she works as an organ and piano teacher. As a church organist she is affiliated with the Ikazia Hospital in Rotterdam.
She is also the conductor of various (project) choirs and is active as an organ teacher at the music school of Kampen and as an organ and piano teacher at the music school of Urk. In addition, she has her own teaching practice.
