This performance of this ‘Night Requiem’ starts just after midnight and ends abruptly at 0.55 am, exactly at the time of Mozart’s death.
Every year, on the night of Mozart’s death from 4 to 5 December, we perform the Requiem that Mozart (eventually) wrote for himself. Our performance of this ‘Night Requiem’ starts just after midnight and, regardless of whether the end of the piece has already been reached, ends abruptly at 0.55 am, exactly at the time of Mozart’s death. There is no applause and in the serene silence that then falls in the church, a bell of death is rung as was customary in Mozart’s time….
Bach Society: Where music and talent come together
The Bach Society is an organisation that specialises in organising special events. The organization is in the hands of the experienced choir and orchestra conductor Alina van Randwijck-Sokolova, under whose direction the performances will take place. We work with professional orchestras and soloists. The choir will always be composed of (advanced) amateurs who can register via this website.
As a choir singer(s), enjoy the masterful experience of performing great works with the accompaniment of professional musicians and conductor and register quickly (costs €50). More information via the link: Singing along – Bachsociety

In het koor van de Laurenskerk bouwen we een pijporgel van de toekomst, dat digitaal te bespelen is: een ‘hyperorgel’. Zo wordt het orgel toegankelijker voor een brede groep musici.
