Erasmus: topical and relevant
Make your own Erasmus bag in the Laurenskerk
During Erasmus Week, you can get to work in the Laurenskerk on Sunday 2 November. Print a linen bag with a saying from Erasmus – or come up with your own adage. Completely in the old way: you compose your sentence with individual letters and print it with ink, just like Erasmus did with his books.
An adage is a short saying or wisdom that makes you think for a moment. The most famous Rotterdammer, Erasmus, left us countless of them. His words can still be found in the city: at Rotterdam Central Station it says “Space separates the bodies, not the spirits”, at the Central Library you can read “All the earth is your homeland” and at the Kruisplein you will find “The most important condition for happiness is that you want to be what you are.”
In het koor van de Laurenskerk bouwen we een pijporgel van de toekomst, dat digitaal te bespelen is: een ‘hyperorgel’. Zo wordt het orgel toegankelijker voor een brede groep musici.
