The 40days before Easter invite reflection. Laurens Vocaal offers a helping hand with Liszt’s Via crucis, about Jesus’ Stations of the Cross.
At the end of his life, Liszt returned to the basics in his music, even to the point of being minimalist. Austerity now characterizes his works, instead of virtuoso excess. He draws inspiration from old composing techniques, Latin hymns and songs from the Reformation, such as O Haupt voll Blut und Wunden. In combination with Gesualdo’s responsories, written for Holy Week, a fascinating musical story is created. With Bruckner’s motet Christus factus est we conclude this concert, an answer to the why of suffering and there is a perspective on Easter.

In het koor van de Laurenskerk bouwen we een pijporgel van de toekomst, dat digitaal te bespelen is: een ‘hyperorgel’. Zo wordt het orgel toegankelijker voor een brede groep musici.
